“Disappearing Structures and Other Landscapes,” an exhibition of recent works by Sue Ann Rainey and Noemi Kollath opens at The Upstairs Gallery on August 25 and continues to September 27. An opening reception is Sunday, August 25 from 3 – 5:00 p.m.

“Disappearing Structures,” consists of Sue Ann Rainey’s photography of architectural structures that are abandoned, falling-down, or have already disappeared after being documented. The images have been photographed over many years to keep a history of them in a state of abandonment and before they crumble away or are demolished. Rainey has been creating art for over 45 years with various cameras and painting styles. She has exhibited in juried, group and solo exhibits for over 40 years and has won numerous awards.

“Other Landscapes,” consists of a collection of recent and past oil landscapes by Noemi Kollath. These paintings aim to bring viewers to places that are far from what we see with our eyes. They are the backdrops to heavy brooding and emotionally charged dreams. The palettes are bright and saturated; inspired by the potency of human nature.

Noemi has been painting for almost ten years; she builds her canvases and mixes pigment powders to create a unique palette and surface for each work. She draws all of her inspiration from nature, psychology, and horses.
