Oil Paintings by Robert Allen, Opens May 2nd at the Upstairs Gallery 

A warm Friday evening in early May…Peddlers Village…The Upstairs Gallery…A prime destination to find Bucks County art!! Oil paintings by Bucks County artist Robert Allen will be featured at the Upstairs Gallery during the month of May.

Rural Bucks County has been the primary inspiration for Allen’s work, although scenes from Hunterdon County, NJ will be included in the exhibit. Allen was able to dedicate more time to  his art following his retirement in 1994. He is essentially self-taught, but initially studied with some local artists using various mediums. Now, working exclusively in oils, he has developed his own identifiable style.

Allen’s work is now part of many private collections and has been accepted in many juried shows. Some shows he has been selected for are annual exhibitions at The Coryell Gallery and at Phillips Mill where he has received several awards. He has been represented by galleries in Doylestown, Washington’s Crossing, and Frenchtown, NJ.

Allen’s show opens on Friday, May 2nd and continues through May 30th , 2008. An opening reception will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday, May 2nd. The show will run through May 30th.

A Little of This…A Little of That
exhibit featured at the Upstairs Gallery June 1 through June 26.

 The artists of the Upstairs Gallery in Peddler’s Village present A Little of This…A Little of That, an exhibit of art in miniature.  This show features pieces measuring no larger than 8 x 10 and many much smaller demonstrating an exquisite attention to detail.  Many of the twenty-six gallery members, who include printmakers, photographers, artists that work in oils, acrylics, watercolors, and pastels, have contributed “little” treasures to this show.

 The show opens on Sunday, June1st and continues through Thursday, June 26th , 2008. There will be a “Meet the Artists” opening reception on Sunday, June 1st from 1:00 to 4:00.

A group of talented artists looking for a plce to showcase their work founded The Upstairs Gallery in the early 1960's. The original location was in New Hope, PA in a second floor gallery. A move was made in 1967 to Peddler's Village and the current location is the third in the Village.

The more than 20 member artists are local, providing and ever changing display of original fine art, from classic to contemporary. As members, the artists pasticipate in running the gallery. When you visit, you will be greeted by one of our artists behind the desk.

We feature the area's best in oils, acrylics, watercolor, pastels, printmaking, dyes on silk, giclees, photography, porcelain, glass, jewelry and vintage art and jewelry.

This cooperative effort has continued without interruption, making the Upstairs Gallery one of the oldest co-ops in the country, and a very affordable way to buy original art.
