CALL FOR ENTRIES IN THE 28TH ANNUAL SCARECROW COMPETITION AND DISPLAY AT PEDDLER’S VILLAGE!
Deadline to Enter Scarecrow Competition is Friday, September 1, 2006

(LAHASKA, PA) July 28, 2006…Peddler’s Village invites both novice and expert scarecrow artists of all ages to participate in the 28th Annual Scarecrow Competition and Display. Participants may enter three new scarecrow categories as well as the traditional categories for cash and prizes totaling more than $5,000.

The colorful Scarecrow creations will be on display throughout Peddler’s Village from Monday, September 11 through Sunday, October 29, 2006.

Don’t delay to register in one of the three new categories for 2006:
Quite the Character Scarecrow: There is a world of possibilities when you make a scarecrow interpretation of your favorite television character—human, animal or animated!
Kids Only! Scarecrow: This category is designed to give kids the opportunity to compete with their peers. You must be age 12 and under to enter!
Group Scarecrow: If your scarecrow is a group project—school, church, office, club, scout troop, neighborhood, etc.; then this category is for you! We’ve sweetened the pot for those who enter!
Or, register in one of the following traditional categories:
A Scarecrow Whirligig: A scarecrow that makes noise or has moving parts when surprised by the windy autumn breeze.
An Extraordinary Contemporary Scarecrow: A creation (not necessarily in the image of a scarecrow) designed to be a crow-banishing presence in any garden or field.
A Traditional Scarecrow: As the name implies, a bird-chaser constructed of the natural materials farming families have used in their fields for generations.

Contestants must register to enter the competition no later than Friday, September 1 and plan to install their scarecrows for outdoor public display in the Village on Sunday, September 10. Entry forms, describing the official competition rules and regulations, are available in all Peddler’s Village specialty shops and restaurants, at www.peddlersvillage.com or by calling
215-794-4000.

The public is encouraged to cast ballots for favorite scarecrow creations during the first three weeks of the contest. Ballots are available in all shops and ballot boxes will be located in Giggleberry Fair, and the Cock ’n Bull and Spotted Hog Restaurants. Winners will be announced and notified via mail the week of October 9.
