WINNERS ANNOUNCED IN ANNUAL QUILT COMPETITION
Peddler’s Village announces winners of 20thAnnual Competition & Display

(LAHASKA, Pa.) Jan. 16, 2007…Vibrant colors, intricately detailed patterns and whimsical designs highlight the cleverly crafted creations on display at the 20th Annual Peddler’s Village Quilt Competition & Display. 

More than 60 handmade quilts competed for over $1,500 in cash prizes in the categories of Traditional, Appliqué, Creative, Amish, Potluck, Student and Clothing. Quilts will be on display in the Gazebo on the Main Green through April 1, 2007 during Village shopping hours. Admission is free.    

This year’s judges were Betty Vincelli of Hopewell, NJ, a Bucks County native, quilter, lecturer and textile artist; and Judy Roche of Doylestown, PA., a lecturer, collector and historian of antique quilts.  The names of all quilt competitors are kept confidential during the judging process to insure impartiality. 

Winners are as follows in each category: 

Potluck: First Place – Elizabeth Zanghi, Cranbury, NJ, “Crazy Quilted Heart Christmas Tree Skirt”; Second Place Tie – Sue Hurley, Princeton, NJ, “Daffodils in Watering Can” and Michelle Schopf, Doylestown, PA, “Ascending Logs”; Honorable Mentions – Melissa Boos, Deptford, NJ, “Folk Art Heart” and  Janet Vasa, New Hope, PA, “Snow People”. 

Amish: First Place – Sandra Annussek, Pennsauken, NJ, “Amish Tree of Life”; Second Place – Joanne Gardner, Royersford, PA, “Carpenter’s Wheel”.

 Traditional: First Place –Lorraine Broomall, Ottsville, PA, “Colorblock”; Second Place – Victoria Hobson, Trenton, NJ, “Fans & Feathers”; Third Place- Janet Fairo, Yardley, PA, “3-D Pinwheel Baby Quilt”; Honorable Mentions  – Christa Afflerbach, Jamison, PA, “Deck the Halls” and Margaret Cordisco, Burlington, PA, “Original Pattern”.

 Creative: First Place – Beatrice Tannenbaum, Southampton, PA “Fantasy”; Second Place – Nancy Jackson, Mechanicsville, PA, “Original String Quilt”; Third Place Tie – Sue Hurley, Princeton, NJ, “Butterfly (original design)” and Beverly Hertler, Red Bank, NJ, “Untitled”; Honorable Mention – David Dunkelberger, Langhorne, PA, “Dave’s Construction Company”.

 Appliqué: First Place – Ruth Woolcock, Millville, PA, “Untitled”; Second Place – Patty Gertz, Ringoes, NJ, “Halloween Silhouette”; Third Place – Janet Fairo, Yardley, PA, “Cockscomb”; Honorable Mention – Beatrice Tannenbaum, Southampton, PA, “Hearts and Flowers”.

 Clothing: First Place – Bonnie Waetzman, Ardmore, PA, “Asymmetrical Vest and Skirt”; Second Place – Bridget Prat, Langhorne, PA, “Tumbling Blocks Chanel Cocktail Dress”; Third Place - Colleen Niles, Warrington, PA, “Down the Garden Path”; Honorable Mentions – Sally Rapp, Trappe, PA, “Shawl Jacket/Favorite Things Pattern” and Alice Stott, Langhorne, PA, “Untitled”.
