SCARE UP SOME FUN at the 28th ANNUAL SCARECROW FESTIVAL AT PEDDLER'S VILLAGE
(LAHASKA, Pa.) August 28, 2006…Scare up some fun at the Peddler’s Village 28th Annual Scarecrow Festival, Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17, 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Free admission and parking. Rain or shine.
Enjoy festival activities including Scarecrow-Making Workshops, Pumpkin Pie Eating Contests, Pumpkin Painting, live musical acts and family entertainment throughout the weekend.
The Scarecrow-Making Workshops will take place both days of the festival on the Street Road Green at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Peddler’s Village staff will teach you to create a unique, life-sized scarecrow to take home and display. All scarecrow-building materials are included in the $20 non-refundable workshop fee. Maximum four people per scarecrow. Space is limited--reserve your space in advance! Pumpkin Painting, sponsored by the Horticulture Society of the Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture, will take place on the Main Green on Sunday starting at 11 a.m. until supplies run out. Brushes, paint and pumpkins will be provided and a nominal fee will be charged based on pumpkin weight. No reservations are needed for this first-come, first-served activity.
Pumpkin Pie Eating Contests will be held both days at 3 p.m. on the Main Green, above the Silver Mine (shop #50). Categories are 10 years old and under, 11 to 14 years old and 15 years old and over. Sign up at the hospitality booth each day from 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Six participants per age group, names are drawn immediately before the contest at 3 p.m.
Colorful scarecrow creations competing for more than $4,000 in cash prizes will be on outdoor display through Sunday, October 29. Vote for your favorites! Ballots are available in all shops and restaurants and ballot boxes will be located in Giggleberry Fair, and the Cock ‘n Bull and Spotted Hog Restaurants. Winners will be announced the week of October 9th.
The weekend's line-up of entertainment includes:
• Daisy Jug Band are a unique musical experience blending elements like the line kazoo, scrub-board, washtub and even the garden hose to create a wonderful blend of harmonies, Saturday, 11 a.m.- 2:30 p.m., Gazebo.
• Peter Pix, one-man band, will charm with music from Frank Sinatra to The Beach Boys, Saturday, 1-3 p.m., Courtyard.
• Keith Rounds, Acoustic folk music from a gifted up-and-coming guitarist. Catch him while you can! Saturday, 1-3 p.m., Village Flower Shoppe
• Give and Take Jugglers delight the crowd with their comedic juggling act with plenty of audience participation, Saturday, 3:30-5:30 p.m., Main Green.
• Giggles, the Giggleberry monkey, will stroll, noon to 4 p.m., Sat. & Sun.
• Mt. Laurel Bluegrass Band will get feet stomping with their traditional bluegrass and old-style country music, Sunday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Gazebo.
• Mike Brill will captivate whether he is playing traditional and rebel Irish songs or pop songs, Sunday, 1-3 p.m., Village Flower Shoppe.
• Diablo Sandwich mixes together a line-up from the 80’s and 90’s, classic rock & roll, swing, dance music, and classic soul and blues with an awesome collection of horn players, Sunday, 2:30-5 p.m., Main Green.
• Ralph Delvecchio and his accordion will amaze you, Sunday, 1-3 p.m., Courtyard.
• Bucks County Singers, Sunday, 5-6 pm, Gazebo.
• Stiltwalker strolling from 1-4 p.m., Sat. & Sun.
